Many chronic headaches are caused by spinal misalignment in the back or neck. These can result in neck pain and headaches that can go on for years without treatment. A good number of our patients find relief after a series of spinal adjustments. This back and neck pain treatment can also have great results toward pain relief of chronic headaches.

In our Wichita office, we offer spinal decompression therapy to combat chronic severe headaches. Some patients have been seeking relief for years, enduring long bouts with multiple medications and even surgery with no results. In spinal decompression, the body is gently elongated and then allowed to relax, which can release pinched nerves and allow misaligned discs to slip back into place naturally.

When a body is injured it contains damaged cells, scar tissue and damaged nerves. Our doctor can aim low level lasers from a Cold Laser machine to pinpoint the internal damage. These lasers, which produce no heat, help to reduce inflammation and restore normal cell function. Once your damaged cells and nerves are healed, your can often experience migraine relief.

Here at Auburn Hills Chiropractic, Dr. Holden will examine you to determine the best way to relieve your pain from constant and chronic headaches. Whether it's cold laser, spinal decompression or general spinal manipulation, you can be certain that you'll get relief from that pain you've had so long.

Decompression for Back Pain Relief

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy

If you have a degenerative back condition caused by a spinal misalignment, then you know how persistent and agonizing that long-term pain can be. Perhaps you have had doctors tell you there is nothing traditional medicine can do for you other than to prescribe increasing amounts of Wichita chiropractor offers spinal decompression therapymedication. You may even have tried standard chiropractic adjustments to no effect. Fortunately, however, there is a Wichita chiropractor who can help. Our own Dr. Holdren at Auburn Hills Chiropractic is skilled in a technique that often succeeds where other techniques do not — non-surgical spinal decompression.

Spinal misalignments may stem from years of poor posture, a congenital imbalance, an auto accident, a sports injury, or a degenerative medical condition. The misalignment puts undue pressure on the gelatinous discs that cushion your vertebrae, allowing these discs to slip out of position, herniate and possibly even rupture. The nerves in and around the vertebrae or surrounding soft tissues may become pinched or strained, causing pain or tingling in your back, neck or limbs.

Pain Relief for Wichita and Goddard Patients

Non-surgical spinal decompression is a safe, effective method of taking the strain off the delicate discs and sensitive nerves in the spinal column. The patient lies on a special table while our chiropractor monitors a computer-guided machine that applies a series of slight but significant stretching forces to the affected part of the spine. This stretching force, along with rest periods, gently separates the vertebrae and helps guide them back into proper alignment, allowing discs and nerves to heal while also relieving back pain.

It usually takes several decompression sessions to get lasting results, but our patients often feel no discomfort during the procedure. In fact, some of them are so relaxed that they fall asleep on the table. The procedure is also completely safe when administered by experienced practitioners like Dr. Holdren. If you want to see if decompression therapy can help you, contact us to set up an appointment.

Whiplash Treatment from Wichita Chiropractor

Posted on 2011-12-06 15:23:52

Here in the U.S., a car accident injury occurs every 10 seconds, and whiplash injuries are sustained by about three million people annually. However, thWichita chiropractor provides whiplash and auto accident injury careis notorious neck injury can also come from bike accidents, sports injuries, slips and falls, etc. Even a low-speed crash can suddenly whip the head and body in opposite directions, with painful results. The rapid acceleration and deceleration strains the complex, delicate network of muscles, vertebrae, discs, ligaments and tendons supporting the 10-12 pound human head.

Although the victim of a neck injury from a low-speed fender bender may not feel any pain initially, if left unchecked, it can cause neck and back pain, headaches, vision problems, difficulty concentrating and sleeping, and other aches and pains around the body. Wichita chiropractor, Dr. Holdren has years of experience helping patients recover from this painful situation.

We Help Relieve Auto Accident Neck Pain

The problem with whiplash is that it often goes undiagnosed until the condition has sprouted secondary symptoms requiring pain relief that could have been avoided if the problem was caught earlier. This is especially true in the case of a low-speed auto accident. A car accident victim may go to the emergency room just to be sure everything is OK, but emergency room doctors are crunched for time, and usually cannot give this soft tissue injury the attention it requires, aside from issuing a neck brace and some pain killers.

This is why we urge anyone who has been in a car accident to come into our office as soon as possible so that we can fully evaluate the situation and offer preemptive neck pain treatment before the situation worsens into other areas. For years, we have helped neck pain patients recover faster through our skillful combination of spinal adjustments, spinal decompression, cold laser therapy, massage and corrective exercises, all of which are tailored to the needs of the individual. So stop suffering, and call us.

Have you ever suffered from a neck injury or whiplash? How did it happen? What treatment worked best for you?

Preventing Auto Accidents This Winter: What You Can Do

Posted on 2011-10-10 13:32:30

Here at our Wichita chiropractic care clinic, Auburn Hills Chiropractic, we treat patients who have suffered car accident injuries. As the winter weather rapidly moves in, the number of auto accident treatment cases we see starts to rise. We will experience some quite cold weather here in the Wichita and Goddard areas soon, so our chiropractor wanted to share some tips about avoiding car accidents at this time of year.

Drive When You MustWichita chiropractor provides tips for avoiding auto accidents

When the roads are full of snow, slush, sleet, and are just generally more difficult to navigate, this is not the right time to take a lot of unnecessary trips. These type of road conditions account for a large number of the accident cases that our chiropractor, Dr. Jacob Holdren, sees every winter. When you can avoid the nasty road conditions, stay home!

Keep Windows Clear

Good visibility is an important part of driving safely in winter weather. Keep the windshield as clear as possible, and run the wipers continuously if needed. Never let snow or sleet accumulate as it can severely diminish what you can see.

Avoid Slamming Breaks

When you slam the breaks on you are more likely to skid, and the vehicle can spin out and go completely out of your control. When you need to use the breaks, apply slow and controlled pressure and avoid slamming on the breaks if at all possible.

Avoiding Accidents and Whiplash

Whiplash is one of the most common car accident injuries that our chiropractor treats. Whiplash occurs when a severe jerking motion causes damage to the soft tissue of the neck and upper back area. The back and neck vertebrae may be moved out of the proper alignment, causing neck pain, back pain, or a painful headache. Treatment for whiplash pain can allow for symptom relief within the first few visits to our clinic, but we always like to tell patients that while we are very glad to see them, of course we would prefer that they had never been injured at all!

Use these tips to help avoid injury and to drive safely during the winter.

Do you have any wintertime driving safety tips to share?

Wichita Chiropractor Provides Tips
for Preventing Winter Sports Injuries

Love taking part in winter sports? Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, ice hockey, sledding, and other related outdoor activities are all popular for Wichita residents during the cold weather months. However, at Auburn Hills Chiropractic we often see an increase in patients with sprains, strains, and back pain due to the physical exertion of these winter activities. Before hitting the slopes, the rink, or the snow covered hills this season, pay special attention to these recommended tips from our Wichita chiropractor, Dr. Jacob Holdren, for winter sports injury prevention.

Auburn Hills Chiropractic Advises
Warming-up and Knowing Limits

Warm Up Prior to Taking Part in the Activity - The easiest way to understand this is to think of muscles as being like rubber bands. In warm conditions, a rubber band stretches easily. In icy temperatures, it becomes harder to do so. The muscles in our bodies work in the same fashion and are extra vulnerable to the cold. Make sure Wichita chiropractor provides tips for winter sports athletesto warm up first by stretching prior to any winter sport activity and also be sure it is an event that you are physically able to take part in by regularly exercising.

Do Not Overexert Yourself - Most back pain and neck pain injuries occur at the end of a winter sport activity when the body is tired, yet the mind insists on continuing. Know your limitations and stop physical activity when you begin to feel fatigued. Do not wait for pain to begin! Pain is a signal from your body that you have already gone too far. If pain does occur, consult our chiropractor as soon as possible to schedule a pain relief consultation or neck pain treatment.

Already experiencing pain problems related to a winter sports injury? Wichita and Goddard patients interested in more tips or scheduling an appointment may call our office directly at 316-721-2220.
