Sacroilliac Pain in Low Back Pain
Sacroilliac or SI Pain
Sacroilliac pain comprises about 30% of back pain. Since saying sacroilliac is a mouthful, doctors will often say SI for short. Sacroilliac pain is located in the lower back below the belt line usually on one side or the other. Sacroilliac pain can be very sharp or it can be a dull ache pain. About 20% of patients with this problem will have pain in the groin. The SI joint will often give cyclic pain while walking. This means you will have pain with each step but when your leg does not have weight on it while walking you will not have pain. So the pain in your SI will be off and on with each step. SI pain is often worse walking up steps and getting into the car. You often have more pain in your SI when you try to sleep with the painful side down. It is also common to have an increase in pain when you turn over in bed at night. Chiropractic adjustments are very successful at treating sacroilliac pain.
So if you think you're having sacroilliac pain call our office for an examination. You can also call to talk to me over the phone about your condition.
