Rutland Chiropractor : Dr. Charles Foster
“As a child, my parents took my entire family to the chiropractor for wellness care.”
I loved going to Dr. Troxell. I looked forward to every appointment because I liked how it made me feel. I would go in for my adjustment feeling good and come out feeling even better. I saw many people with different kinds of health problems respond to his gentle adjustments. Watching Dr. T work was amazing, it seemed like he was working miracles with his hands and it seemed he was the adult having the most fun……I wanted to be just like him.”
More about Dr. Charles Foster
Dr. Foster’s family is very important to him. Dr. Foster married his sweetheart,Johnna in 1981. They have two grown daughters, Leah and Taryn. Leah has given the Fosters their first grandchild, Andrew. Leah and her family are in nearby Concord, so "Papa" gets regular visits with Andrew. Taryn is a senior at Palmer College of Chiropractic and expects to join the practices in October 2014. When the girls were young, Dr Foster and Johnna researched the risks vs. benefits of routine vaccinations and chose not to have the girls vaccinated. (“I will encourage you to make your own informed decision.”) Medication is never the first option for the Fosters, antibiotics are extremely rare for their family. They prefer to let the body’s own immune system function in a natural healthy way.
Dr. Foster follows his own advice. He gets adjusted at least once a week. He exercises 3-5 days a week combining weight lifting, cardio and dynamic movement with stretching. He pretty closely adheres to the principles of eating 4-6 small meals a day, with protein following exercise and a vegetable to fruit ratio of 2:1.
Community and Professional Involvement
Dr. Foster is involved in his church, and is a member of the Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce. He is active in the Vermont Chiropractic Association. In 2003 he received their “Chiropractor of the Year” award. While president of the association he worked with others to successfully lobby the state legislature and negotiate with Governor Howard Dean to enact an insurance equality bill for chiropractic patients. Dr. Foster also helped draft the “pro-chiropractic” position statements for several presidential candidates in the 2004 election. Most recently, he completed three terms on the Vermont Board of Chiropractic Examiners, overseeing a rewrite of regulations pertaining to the practice of chiropractic and investigating complaints made against practitioners. He is a member of the Chiropractic Knights of the Roundtable, an invitation-only fraternity of successful chiropractic doctors. His commitment to health fuels his passion for exercise, the benefits of which, he hopes to realize on the golf course.
